Designed for even the most demanding professionals, Milwaukee’s range of high performance FUEL power tools, launched in 2012, has redefined the perception of cordless power tool capabilities and performance. By 2015, the range included 20 tools. The M18 FUEL, for example, is the largest high performance brushless offering in the industry and continues to push the boundaries of cordless performance. As tools and applications become more demanding, battery packs – particularly existing offerings – are being pushed harder than ever before. This is why we continue to expand our FUEL range, with higher output tools including 66mm circular saws, 28mm+ SDS Hammers, high torque hole hawks, magnetic press drills and high lumen lighting category. Now, run-time is the single most limiting factor when it comes to meeting user demands in their quest to eradicate corded AC applications.

More recently, an increase in use of lithium-ion technology and, since 2011 in particular, Red Lithium-Ion battery, cordless technology now works faster, harder, longer and in more extreme conditions. It has the greatest – and most reliable – power, and combines lower electrical impedence cells with a new and more durable battery construction alongside sophisticated electronics to maximize performance and life. It also minimizes the abuse in today’s jobsite applications.

In their place came a rise of lithium-ion battery technologies, which saw a further improvement in the performance of cordless tools in comparison.

Historically, Nickel-Cadmium (NiCD) and Nickel–Metal hydride (NiMH) batteries were ideal substitutes for small and medium AC corded applications, particularly in environments of low repeatability and frequency. However, users would experience poor tool handling and excessive fatigue, which limited wider expansion.

Milwaukee is committed to delivering new and innovative solutions that redefine cordless end user productivity on jobsites around the world.Initially, the term ‘cordless convenience’ was defined by the replacement of cumbersome, range-restricted AC cordsets with more mobile and rechargeable batteries in cordless power tools. This reduced health hazards, such as tripping over AC cords, and significantly enhanced user mobility and piece of mind to help get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible.
